Preseason Memo from Coach Powers (Added to the archive 04/19/08)
There are many reasons to be excited about the upcoming season. First and foremost, it is our Fifth Anniversery Celebration Season! In addition, we are coming off of our most successful Fall Ball campaign in club history. We have a great recruiting class in front of us. We have a strong nucleus of returning players and a core of dedicated parents and coaches. That being said, we do have our work cut out for us. With the formation of a new division and the addition of Quaker Valley to Division II North, our division is tougher than ever. I don't expect that any victories will come easy. In order for us to succeed in 2008 we will have to "do work!"

Coaches Skelly, Gutowski, and I have been working hard and preparing for our most comprehensive preseason workout program ever. Much thanks to the support of Brian Fuller and Mike Caro of the athletic department we will be afforded many opportunities to work on our skills and improve our conditioning before regular season practice begins in March. Our first indoor workout is scheduled for Tuesday, January 8th. Please click on the following link for the details about the 2008 Pre-Season Workout Schedule. Please make sure you bring your completed registration materials and membership payment if you haven't already done so. Also, the Board of Directors asked me to remind you that there is a MANDATORY Parents Meeting at 7:00pm (right before our workout) on January 15, 2008 - mee in the MIHS Gym Lobby!

We have an exciting schedule for 2008! We currently have fourteen varsity games, twelve junior varsity games (two more than last year), and a Freshman game for the first time ever! We start the season with a test of our mettle at home against Division I opponent Bethel Park. We host an amazing four team event (McDowell, Kiski Prep, Quaker Valley, and Cathedral Prep) on Saturday May 10th that will have major playoff implications since every game is a Division II league game! In addition, we will carry on the tradition of an overnight trip again this year when we travel to Green, Ohio on the weekend of April 26 & 27th. It will be a big weekend of lacrosse as we are scheduled to play three varsity and three junior varsity games while we are there!

Please click on the following link to access the 2008 Game Schedule and take a moment to make note of the dates, times, and locations of each game. Remember, as the season approaches, it may be necessary to modify the dates, times, or location of games and every reasonable attempt will be made to communicate that information as timely as possible. I look forward to a great 2008!

Respectfully,
Coach Powers
